About Us
Our Story
Friends of Rescue Animals (FRAs) is a 501(c)(3), all-volunteer nonprofit founded in 2004. Our mission is to help homeless pets find loving homes faster by mobilizing volunteers, funding lifesaving programs, and advocating for improved outcomes for shelter animals.
What began with just four volunteers has grown over two decades into a community of 400+ dedicated individuals committed to giving shelter pets a second chance at life.
Today, FRAs supports four municipal animal shelters in North Texas—Rowlett, Garland, Richardson, and Sachse—and operates a foster-based cat rescue program that helps more than 800 cats find homes each year.
As community support has grown, so has our ability to put our mission into action. We continue to expand the programs and partnerships that save lives and improve the well-being of shelter animals. Our vision is a world where communities, volunteers, and shelters work together to ensure every adoptable pet has a safe, loving home.
